The short answer
PlatPost is better for a founder who wants posts written in their own voice, a yes before anything goes out, ad boosts, an inbox, a Managed tier and a community of founders. Postiz is better for a developer or AI-first marketer who wants open source to self-host, 33 networks, a public API on every plan, or built-in AI pictures and video today.
Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler, sold hosted or self-hosted, that drafts, generates and schedules posts to 33 networks with an AI agent, a public API and an MCP server for developers and AI-first marketers. Every Postiz fact below was read on their own site (opens in a new tab) on the date beside it. A fact that was not on their public pages says so. PlatPost’s price is read from the same table as the pricing page.

Standard-plan AI images conflict: the pricing page shows none on Standard, the docs limits page shows 20; the docs say the pricing page is the commercial source of truth. The network count varies by page: the home page says 30+, the docs say 34, the platform table lists 35 rows (Instagram and TikTok twice). The pricing page shows annual prices as a monthly equivalent (USD 23, 31, 39, 79); the docs give the yearly totals (278, 374, 470, 950). Refund rules conflict: the pricing page says within 120 days, the docs say under 60 days, one month at most, once a customer. The trial needs a card, and some paid AI video generators and video clipping are off until the trial converts. The home page says the hosted MCP uses OAuth with no API key; the docs allow an API key or OAuth. The AI agent and the MCP cannot read or reply to comments, so there is no inbox. Agent Media is a separate AI UGC video product billed apart from every plan. The pricing page mentions paid optional app approvals for self-hosters (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube) without a price. The GitHub README labels the Discord 'devs only' while the docs route cloud support there too. The README lists only 14 networks; the docs table is the fuller list. The self-hosted edition needs a developer app and keys for 25 of the 35 channel types, and its own AI, Polotno and clipping keys.

- Postiz Cloud’s Standard is USD 29 a month, Team USD 39, Pro USD 49 and Ultimate USD 99, with a 7-day trial that needs a card, and the self-hosted edition has no licence fee. PlatPost sells a plan for three channels, plus up to two paid extras, on its pricing page, with a free account. Checked 18 October 2026.
- Does Postiz have an approval step before posting?
- Not a gate. Postiz gives a public preview link where a client can comment on one post, but there is no approved state and nothing blocks publishing; you move a draft to scheduled yourself. PlatPost posts nothing until you say yes on the calendar, and the Managed tier adds a person who reads every post.

- Postiz, by count: 33 networks, with Mastodon, Twitch, Kick, VK, Nostr, Farcaster, Whop, Skool, Tumblr and blog hosts, but no Snapchat or WhatsApp. PlatPost posts to 16, with Snapchat and WhatsApp. Check whether the networks you use are on each list; a long list only helps if yours is on it.

- Can my own AI agent use Postiz or PlatPost?
- Both. Postiz has a hosted MCP server with 13 tools, a public REST API, a CLI and an agent skill on every plan and on self-hosted installs. PlatPost has a remote MCP server with up to ten keys, each with read, draft, schedule and publish scopes you choose, and no public REST API.
